26 April spring is here, let us cheerSpring is here and i love it! It was a little chilly out today, but tolerable enough to stay outside for a half hour w/ the kids at recess. The kids were, yet again, crazy. They've been really off the past couple weeks. I know there is testing and all, but that doesn't change their afternoon schedule, and still they're NUTS! I haven't left school wanting to kill myself, but i do spend the days thinking, "Is this really occurring right now??" Ah well - life in EBD huh! So i just finished making, and eatting supper! My coworker Stasha gave me this recipe today for this asparagus tart thing. It looked really good, and so i thought i'd give it a try for supper tonight. Louie and I went to the grocery store to pick up what we needed around 7:30pm or so. Of course i didn't get around to starting to make anything until 8pm. It takes about 45 minutes to prepare, and then another 30 to cook. You've got to make the crust, boil the asparagus, cook the crust, make the filling stuff... there were a million steps. I was worried dad wouldn't be patient enough to wait for it to be done b/c it was so late! I thought he might just get something else to eat. I told him he could, but he waited, so that was nice! Anyway, my asparagus tart tasted good. It had a different taste, almost like a quiche. I liked it, and dad got seconds, so i assume he liked it too. Mom just got home and has yet to try it. When i was at Cub buying the asparagus, i also grabbed frozen strawberries, and an angel food cake. We had that for dessert. Suffice to say again, my stomach is exploding! Tomorrow mom and I are going to go see Hairspray at the Orpheum!! I cannot wait! It should be a blast! i got us good seats up in the balcony! Anyway, time to get going. I hope to get to bed soon here. Haha - yea right. I'm talking to jen online right now. Ill be up for about 2hrs. I sure hope not... i want to go to bed early. I'm weak at ending entertaining conversations though :P G'NIGHT ALL! 21 April Beautiful Day!!Time for yet another overdue update! Well, today was GORGEOUS outside!! It was a bit warm out - 76ish degrees or so, but it was fun to get a little tease of summer!!
This morning I had to teach at dance. Classes went quickly, so that was good. My ages 6-9 combo class has been done with their dance for the student showcase for 2 weeks now. One student who has been gone for the past 4 weeks showed up today, right after i had filled the hole where she was supposed to stand. She hadn't been there at all to learn any of the dance. Thankfully she is a quick learner, and was able to pick it all up - or at least follow along very well!! One of my little boys said the CUTEST thing today!! His name is Sam, and he's only 6yrs old. Well, there was this one girl who just sat down in the middle of class. The rule is, if they sit down at all, we have to start class from the beginning again! Well, little Sam says to me, in a very serious voice "I think Kaila wants us to have to start class again, and I really don't want to." It was the sweetest thing EVER!
Anyway, in my ages 10-13 combo class, we finally finished their tap dance for the student showcase. It's a very basic and easy dance, but considering that they all started tap for the first time ever 5 weeks ago, i'm not too concerned. They were all able to do the dance without me, and we did finish it, so i was very pleased!!!
After my classes today, Carisa asked Allison and I if we wanted to go out for lunch. Then she changed her mind, and instead invited us over to her apartment to make us lunch, to save $$. Carisa made us spaghetti combined w/ angel hair (she wanted to use up what pasta she had left), and then also made us these cheese stuffed chicken nuggets - delicious!! Allison and I watched the video of Carisa on St Patricks day - very VERY funny. Whilst we ate, we watched some good ol' Friends, and afterward, Carisa showed us some of her old dances and solos. Very fun! We were there for about 2hrs or so.
I dropped Allison off at her apt afterward, and then went over to the Dunn Bros near me. I spent 2hrs there working on some stuff on my laptop. Then i came home and went rollerblading for an hour down to the dam and back!! I was very proud of myself because I skated the entire way without stopping!! It was a beautiful evening, and there were a lot of people out on the paths!! I love watching the sun set over the Mississippi River!! I left my house around 7:30, and was a little nervous I wouldn't get home until it was dark outside! Fortunatly I was home by 8:30, and even though the sun had already set, it was still light enough outside to see where i was going. Had it not been so late, i would've skated longer! I'm really happy that Kari got me into skating again! It's SOOO much fun! I find it very calming and relaxing! You can travel much faster than walking, and your quads don't kill you like biking. It's almost like you're floating on your feet - i love it :)!! I've already gone out rollerblading 7 times this year, and it's only April!! Twice now Kari and I have skated to and from work! I hope to be able to do it more often before the school year is over.
Anyway, i'm home now. It is now 10:00pm exactly. I just made my mom and I black chery vodka sours - yummy!! Time to put on pjs, and I'm gonna throw in Bridget Jone's Diary for the two of us to watch together. G'night all! |
